Do most ghostwriters get a rev share? Or atonomy to promote what products they want?
The thing about newsletters, compared to most ghostwriting (which seems to be popular on X right now), is email is 'owned media' and we don't have to contend with an algorithm to reach our audience.
I have a question about this, sorry I know I'm late to the party. But are they making more money by us creating a paid newsletter? Also by us having access to their audience are you insinuating that we then send out our own stuff to their audience on top of the newsletter of theirs we create? Or is the entire profit of this hustle only the 1/2 of newsletter subscribers money?
There are lots of ways to set up this kind of deal and it really comes down to what you and the Creator decide.
... If you decide to do a paid newsletter? Ok, but that's just one option...
I'm not totally sure what you mean 'insinuating we send out our own stuff'...
My point was you can make a deal with a content creator, up front, that you will promote various affiliate offers to the list and split the profits with the Creator.
We're not doing anything shady or behind anyone's back.
What are some of the companies you mentioned that are doing this in a different market?
Thanks
Most keep a low profile and don't have much of an online presense.
But Mike Geary who had a famous ClickBank offer "The Truth About Abs" now does this.
Thanks James. Just joined on the annual plan. Looking forward to more of your guest posts. I also joined your James does deals group.
Great Mark. Welcome to the community. Look forward to talking with you more.
I am trying to understand how is that different from a ghostwriting if you are going to be managing someone else’s newsletter?
Maybe it's not Alex...

Yeah, it is definitely intriguing…
Looking forward to learn more about the approach you are describing.
Would be curious how would you approach such a process step-by-step.
For example:
- what kind of proof do we wanna attach to a pitch upfront(constant plan for the newsletter, draft of the first email, transcribed by AI, etc)
- how do we approach the first step technically (do we ask creator for the access to their ConvertKit, or export their email-list, etc)
Despite the obvious benefits of increasing ARPU, curious if it’s compelling enough for creators to share email list or access to it.
As for the tech setup...
The whole idea is we're baking them a new pie.
So they don't have existing email list/newsletter.
We can start from scratch with whatever service we want.
The most important thing we can do is move fast and see what results we can (or can't) get quickly.
Getting access to an existing data base would require a lot of trust we haven't built yet and slow us down with tech.
Got it! That makes things a lot clearer.
It sounds like a specific avatar of a creator with a decent audience somewhere else, but email list.
The next question might be how would “the move fast and see results” MVP look like?
That would depend on the deal but also how fast someone can type.
Thanks for your questions Alex.
Looks like I wasn't clear in some areas.
And, if you don't mind? I might ask a few questions that might make you think about approaches differently.
First, why do we need proof? We're not approaching a Creator like a freelancer looking for a job and asking for money.
We're offering to INVEST our own time and energy into their business.
...If as much as anything else - we're interviewing them to see if they're worth our time to work with.
Like many investments - There's a chance we hit a home run and a chance we strike out.... Either way? The Creator doesn't lose anything.
Hope that gives you a new perspective.
Appreciate you reading and commenting.
What else would you like to know?

Hi Tiffany.
Glad to have you hear. Late is better than never.
