4 Pitch Forks Threatening your Monster Side Hustle
Turn your side hustle into a monster.
Beast mode for Halloween:-)
I’ve been in the online marketing game for 15 years…
In that time I’ve seen dozens (maybe hundreds?) of people go from brand new to 6 figure lifestyle business success… only working a few hours a day from their phone or laptop.
I’ve also seen hundreds (maybe thousands?) of people start, make a quick splash, then never heard from again.
What separates the people who make the dream a reality from those who give up?
From my experience…
4 pointy pitchforks:
Pitch Fork #1 - Lack of Information
If you’re a single 20-something with all the time, energy, and ambition in the world?
You might not need more information.
If a 20-something doesn't know how a faucet works?...
They can run back and forth to the river with a bucket.
Constant action and lots of time will sometimes make up for ‘know how’.
… Some of us though?
With more obligations and weaker knees?
We want to use the faucet.
And turning on the money faucet requires the information of what to do and what tools make the task easier.
Which brings me to…
Pitch Fork #2 - Lack of Skill
There’s a super funny episode in the show ‘Ghosts’ where Jay bets he can win a high stakes game of Pickleball..
Turns out?
He’d only ever watched YouTube tutorials…
… Never actually played Pickleball.
Sounds ridiculous, right?
But we see it all the time…
People try to sell “I’ll grow your audience” and have no audience of their own.
(Which is usually why they’re trying to sell the service by cold DM.)
All that to say?
The better you are at your side hustle - the less you’ll have to sell.
People will tell others if you’re good.
Pitch Fork #3 - Lack of Leverage
My dad, before he retired, was a mechanic.
He could tell what was wrong with a vehicle just by listening to it.
He had the knowledge and skill.
However…
If he wasn’t personally fixing the car, truck, or semi?
He wasn’t getting paid.
He had no leverage.
Now…
Had he turned his knowledge into an info product so people could fix their own cars?
…Better yet…
Created an info product so other mechanics could diagnose problems by sound…
Or both?
He could have helped thousands more people without turning wrenches for 40 years.
(Unless that’s what he wanted to do.)
Pitch Fork #4 - Lack of Execution
This is the most insidious pitch fork holding us back becoming a monster of a success.
There have been many times when I’ve told myself I was executing because I was ‘learning more’ or ‘practicing’ writing copy.
Truth is?
I was procrastinating at best…
Hiding at worst.
I bet if I added up all the time I wasn’t executing?...
It cost me years and hundreds of thousands of dollars in income.
… Which hurts to admit.
I say it to make myself a cautionary tale.
Don’t wait like I did.
While we all need a base level of knowledge, skill, and leverage?
We don’t have to be world-class to start.
We can become less dumb as we go.
That’s it.
Those are the 4 things you need to make a monster income from your side hustle.
In your corner,
James Foster
PS - If you can execute? You can often borrow the other 3…
You can get leverage as well as other people’s skill and knowledge by…
