“Becoming smart is hard. But becoming less dumb - I could handle that.” - Shawn Twing
^This was a revelation for me.
James here.
I don’t need to be the best or the smartest….
… I just need to be less “dumb” than others.
To put in a less triggering way?
Avoid making the mistakes most people make.
We can use this thinking in our Print On Demand side hustle too.
We don’t need to be the best.
We just need to think:
“How can I avoid the mistakes of people who make no sales?”
DON’T:
Spend hours creating a single design
(10-15 minutes in Canva should be your limit.)
Hire designers
(Whip up text based phrases, yourself, for your first 100 sales.)
Make an exact copy of an existing hot seller
(Improve the font or change the ‘who’.)
Start in a 10/10 competitive niche
(Pick a less competitive OCCASION and expand from there.)
Only work from a computer
(With Canva on your phone you can create designs on your lunch break or vacations.)
Something else a lot of people do?
…It can work but often costs years in trial and error…
Figuring out POD on their own.
Like learning to swim…
Could someone watch fifty-eleven YouTube videos and figure it out?
Possibly.
But…
The arm floaties will come off a lot faster by working with someone who can already swim.
If you want a fun way to make passive income by learning from someone who’s been making $10k/m for over 7 years in POD?

Thanks for this, some strong advice that really adds weight to what I’ve learned recently.
I’m currently looking to build a copywriting business and am waiting for designers (not hired) to add visuals to some spec ads. Can I add them to my portfolio without? Will they be more effective with some design?
